Notice Regarding Your Personal Information
Who collects your information?
The Bootcamp BFF Contest is organized by the Lise Watier Foundation.
The Foundation collects certain personal information as part of this initiative for the purposes outlined below.
This notice supplements the Foundation’s Privacy Policy and the official contest rules. In the event of any conflict regarding the terms of the contest, the official contest rules shall prevail.
What information do we collect?
Depending on how you enter and the stage of the contest, we may collect the following information:
1. Information related to your registration and account
- your email address and account username;
- your title (Ms., Mr., or Mx.);
- your profile information, including:
- your first name(s) and last name(s);
- your year of birth;
- your administrative region;
- your primary occupation;
- your housing or living situation;
- your language preference;
- how you found out about the BFF Bootcamp;
2. Information about your experience during the BFF Bootcamp
- your registration for the BFF Bootcamp;
- your responses to the initial assessment;
- your responses to the exercises and questions, including those regarding:
- your financial habits;
- your financial confidence;
- the financial actions you are taking or plan to take;
- your progress on the challenges, including completed activities;
- your scores, points, and badges earned.
3. Information regarding your participation in the contest
- your participation in the Grand Prize;
- the progress recorded to verify your eligibility;
- if you are selected:
- the information appearing on a valid form of identification, to verify your identity and ensure that this information matches the details in your account;
- additional contact information needed to reach you;
- your answer to a skill-testing question;
- the information needed to award you your prize, including deposit into an investment account in the case of the Grand Prize.
4. Information Regarding Your Preferences and Communications
- if you enable notifications, your preferences regarding them and the corresponding technical identifiers required based on the device used to receive these notifications;
- your newsletter preferences;
- your preferences regarding your usage statistics;
- the content of any messages, requests, comments, or complaints you send to the Foundation.
5. Technical and usage information regarding the app
- certain events related to your use of the app or the app service (hereinafter the “app”);
- information collected through cookies or similar technologies, depending on your choices (see the “Use of Cookies” section);
- the IP address of the device or access point used;
- type of device used;
- browser type and version;
- log files;
- security-related data;
- pages viewed;
- technical errors encountered.
Why do we collect information about you?
We collect personal information from you for the following purposes:
1. Creating and managing your account
- Create, log in to, and manage your account;
- view and save your progress, scores, points, badges, and answers;
- customize your experience based on certain general characteristics, such as your language or the stage you’ve reached.
2. Registration and Participation in the BFF Bootcamp
- to register for the BFF Bootcamp;
- confirm that you meet the contest eligibility criteria;
- determine your eligibility for the Grand Prize or weekly drawings based on your progress recorded on the platform;
- prevent or detect fraudulent, automated, multiple, or otherwise non-compliant entries.
3. Selection of Winners and Awarding of Prizes
- conduct the drawings;
- contact the selected individuals;
- verify their identity using a valid form of identification and confirm their eligibility;
- administer and award the prizes.
4. Evaluating and Improving the Program and the App
- evaluate the program and measure its impact;
- send you, a few months after the BFF Bootcamp, an optional survey to find out if you have maintained the financial habits you acquired during the program, and contact you again for this purpose;
- use de-identified information for the purposes of study, research, or the production of statistics on the overall results of the initiative;
- improve the app’s content, accessibility, and performance;
- secure the app, and detect and resolve technical issues.
5. Support, Communications, and Legal Obligations
- to respond to your questions, requests, comments, or complaints;
- comply with the Foundation’s legal obligations.
Your information is not used to solicit donations or for other philanthropic outreach purposes.
How do we collect your information?
We collect your information:
- directly from you, when you register, when you complete the baseline assessment and exercises, when you participate in a contest or survey, and when you contact the Foundation;
- automatically through technological means such as:
- cookies, including functions necessary for your account and user experience when you use the app (login, language selection, recording of answers, and progress); and
- logging of IT operations performed with the app;
- through your usage statistics, if you have enabled them;
- from your account and your progress recorded in the challenges; and
- through the use of information systems made available to the Foundation by service providers (see the section “To whom may we communicate your information?”).
No Location Tracking or Profiling
The app does not use any advertising tools or location features.
Certain information, such as your progress, occupation, housing or living situation, and responses to activities, may be used to track your journey, present you with relevant content, and evaluate the program.
However, this information is not used to profile you by evaluating certain characteristics about you (such as determining your creditworthiness or your propensity toward a specific financial product) or to make a decision about you, except for decisions based on the automated processing of certain personal information about you used to determine your eligibility for the contest or for a drawing as part of the contest.
To whom may we communicate your information?
Within the Foundation, only staff members, employees, or mandataries who are authorized to access personal information—and for whom such information is necessary to perform their duties—may have access to it.
The law permits the Foundation to communicate personal information necessary for the performance of contracts. In such cases, the contracts include the necessary measures to protect the confidentiality of the communicated information, to limit its use to the performance of the contract, and to prevent its retention after the contract expires.
On this basis, the Foundation is required to communicate certain information to service providers in the following categories:
- hosting, cloud infrastructure, and data storage;
- development, maintenance, technical support, monitoring, diagnostics, and security of the app and the IT systems ensuring its accessibility and operation;
- authentication, user account management, fraud prevention, and access control;
- media, communications, and participant relations management;
- contest administration, supervision of drawings, eligibility verification, and prize distribution;
- professional advice, including legal and accounting services, as well as auditors and insurers.
Details regarding the names of the third parties in question, as well as the nature and scope of their respective services, may be provided upon written request addressed to the Foundation.
Processing Outside Québec
The app server and database used to process personal information are located in Québec, in the Montreal area, while the website’s functions are configured using software-as-a-service located outside Canada.
Certain personal information may also be stored or communicated outside of Québec or Canada, particularly for the purpose of fulfilling contracts with the Foundation’s suppliers or their subcontractors involving the outsourcing of personal information processing (for example, information derived from logging the progress of IT operations with the app), in compliance with the legal requirements established for such cases.
Rights of Access, Correction, and Withdrawal
Subject to the conditions and exceptions provided for by law, you may:
- access, through your account, the personal information the Foundation holds about you;
- have inaccurate, incomplete, or equivocal personal information about you corrected;
- withdraw your consent to the communication or use of the information collected.
Use of Cookies
The Bootcamp BFF app and website use cookies and may employ similar technologies. Data collected through cookies is not necessarily personal information, but may become so when combined with other information that relates to an individual and allows for their identification. Details regarding the different types of cookies used are displayed in the cookie management banner or widget within the Bootcamp BFF app and website.
You can change your preferences regarding your usage statistics via the “My Cookies” panel and access your profile’s notification settings from this panel. Notifications can be configured for each device you use.
